The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts is so much more than its name suggests.
The Windgate Art School and Robyn and John Horn Gallery transform the Museum into a true artistic epicenter for Arkansas — opening the building up to the community not only as a place to appreciate art, but also discover and grow artistic practices.
The 11,000 square-foot art school welcomes practitioners of all skill levels across several mediums.
Studios include areas for drawing and painting as well as ceramics, wood, glass, and metalwork. Each studio allows for a peek inside through the side entrance window where you can see the faculty and students creating.
Like the Atrium and Grand Staircase, several of the Windgate Art School studios are filled with natural light from their large windows, while the organic proximity of the different disciplines welcome, even invite, collaboration and inspiration.
Outside and just west of the studios is the Art Yard: a space allowing students to connect to nature.
Arriving at the Windgate Art School, you are welcomed by the Robyn and John Horn Gallery. A space that could have been purely practical is heightened into a gallery for exhibitions, allowing this creative arena to be immersed in inspiration, tying it to the flow of the rest of the Museum.
Echoing the intent and geometry of the Atrium lobby, the Robyn and John Horn gallery provides a comfortable place where students and faculty can meet and mix outside the classroom.
A space for inspiration and creation, the Windgate Art School further connects you with the artwork of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
